I haven’t been doing much cooking the last few weeks… too busy and tired from work… but today I cooked some short ribs which turned out pretty great… they really were good…

This recipe is from the Better Homes and Gardens “New Cook Book”  cookbook, page 164.

  • 4 lbs beef short ribs, cut into serving size pieces
  • 2/3 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup light molasses
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • dash garlic powder (I used 2 cloves crushed garlic)

Summary of instructions from cookbook are shown below….

  1. Place ribs in dutch oven or clay pot and cover with water, bake for 2 hours at about 375 or until tender
  2. drain and place ribs on unheated broiler pan
  3. combine sauce ingredients and pour over ribs
  4. broil 4-5 inches from heat for 10-15 minutes, brushing on more sauce as needed

Serve with vegetables such as mashed potatoes and green beans.

The flavor of the sauce was very nice… definitely will make this again! 🙂
