Tonight we ate some beef and beans; I got the recipe from the Fix It and Forget It Cookbook, page 89. This was really tasty, though I would have liked more beans in this and less sauce (it was a little greasy).

  • 1 tbsp prepared mustard
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1-1/2 lb boneless round steak, cut into thin slices
  • 2 of 14oz cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 beef bullion cube, crushed
  • 16oz can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • white rice if desired
  1. combine mustard, chili powder, salt and pepper. Add beef slices and toss to coat. Place meat in slow cooker.
  2. Add tomatoes, onion, and bouillon.
  3. Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours.
  4. Stir in beans. Cook 30 minutes longer.
  5. Serve over rice.
