This is a super yummy meal. My hubby and I ate every last bite for supper tonight. Basa is a very tasty fish and a new favorite for both of us! This was really very delicious.
The Basa fish is actually from Vietnam and is a type of Catfish… in case you were wondering! The fish recipe, actually has 5 or less ingredients….I’ve made it with lemon slices or with tomato slices and both ways were good. 🙂
INGREDIENTS (Basa Fillet)
- Frozen Basa Fillet(s)
- Fresh or Dried Dill Weed
- Butter
- Lemon Slices or Lemon Juice
INSTRUCTIONS (Basa Fillet)
- Wrap frozen Basa fillet(s) in aluminum foil (shiny side in)
- Shake dill all over the top of fish
- place 3-4 pats of butter on fillet
- Drizzle with Lemon Juice and lay slices on top of fish
- wrap foil tightly (fold ends and along top) and bake in 400F oven for approx 30 min or until done
INGREDIENTS (Rice with Vegetables)
- 1 cup brown rice plus 2 cups vegetable stock (cook or steam rice)
- 1/2 cup zucchini, cubed
- 1/2 cup sweet red pepper, diced
- 3/4 – 1 cup fresh mushrooms, roughly chopped
- 2 chives, green and white parts diced
- 1 tbsp butter
- dash of dill weed
- lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS (Rice with Vegetables)
- sautee veggies in large skillet in PAM until tender
- add cooked/steamed rice to skillet and cook 5 min
- add butter, lemon juice and dill weed and stir well
- now, place rice in dish and top with cooked fish (plus juices from cooking) and serve with sauteed green beans or other vegetable of your choice

Hi,
Tried your recipe last night.
I’m generally not a seafood fan and this is the first time I cooked and tried Basa fish at all. But the fish was great and I believe, fron now on, it will be often included in my dinner menue 🙂
Thanks to you, to your recipe and most imoprtantly – Andrew 🙂 since the link from his website led me here.
Thank you! 🙂

Hey lady, that looks dee-licious!
I’ve printed it out and will be cooking it for my hubby and myself tonight. And – amazingly – I already have all the ingredients in the cupboard/fridge.
Serendipity!

That looks like a wonderful dish. I am adding it to my meatless Monday list. If you don’t want it there, please let me know.
The list is found http://sweetsav.blogspot.com – Meatless Mondays

I tasted Basa for the first time. I usually prefer non fish stuff. I tasted it with a schmear of potatoe on the top and a cream sauce. Anyone have that receipe?

Just made this for my wife and myself. It was the first time either one of us had basa. To say we both enjoyed the dish immensely would be an understatement. Neither one of us thought we’d finish the whole portion on our plates, but we both did — and in record time. 🙂 As west coasters, we both tend to like fish. This, however, was special. (My wife said, “Do NOT lose this recipe.”)
Just one question: When you say “chives” in the ingredient list, do you mean green onions or scallions?

Wonderful recipe – tasty, easy, and healthy – it is now, as my husband says, “in the regular rotation” – now this week my market had basa that was not frozen, so after the prep, I baked it as 375 for 15 min.

Loved the fish…. usually wait for it to thaw but wanted a recipe that I could use right away (we were hungry) so went to the web and looked up Basa. Your recipe came up ….wonderful, and we will definitely do it again. I didn’t have scallions so I used plain onion and I added a bit of grated carrot for colour. Hope you don’t mind, delicious.
